Acer Cottage, parts of which are over 200 years old, is located close to the centre of the old market town of Bishop's Stortford. It sits in a ¼ acre walled garden and is very quiet being away from the road and traffic noise, and is also away from Stansted Airport's flight path. The cottage has 2 double bedrooms with wash hand basins and a twin room with bunk beds sharing a bathroom for guests use only. An additional put-u-up bed can be provided in one of the double rooms. Off street parking is available, and is free while guests are staying.
We are conveniently placed for those using Stansted Airport from where we can be reached direct by taxi, or by bus or train to Bishops Stortford station/interchange, and are about 2 miles from junction 8 on the M11. We are very close to the Parish Church and local Catholic Church for guests who are going to weddings; funerals etc. and also close to local boarding schools for visiting parents. There is a frequent and fast train service to London and Cambridge. The town centre is only 5 minutes walk away from Acer Cottage with a wide range of shops and over 20 restaurants.
Check in is from 4.00pm and check out by 10.00am, but can altered by agreement. Full English or light breakfast is served between 07.30 and 09.00 am. Children over 4 years old are welcome, but we are afraid not dogs or cats as they may end up the worse for meeting ours! People in wheel chairs will find it difficult to navigate the stairs.
